Got The Date - Can't Stop Eating
Wow, from the moment I heard my LapBand was scheduled, I can not seem to stop eating. I am sure this is expected, but I have really hit the choc. and Pepsi kinda hard. Although I do not test my blood sugar, I can really tell it has spiked and I need to lay off of the sugars.
I feel that I am informed on the procedure and what my life will be after. The only thing I will miss will be the Pepsi and will have to change to coffee to get up and going in the mornings. I have managed to stay the same weight for a year, I have not been able to lose which is my problem. Now I am beginning to wonder what I will be putting on over the next week and a half.
Somebody - PLEASE - tell me this is NORMAL. Every night while I am laying in bed, I get more upset with myself because I can not seem to stop. Well, the good thing is, the M&M's are out of the house. Now, I have 12 days to kick the Pepsi habbit. Frankly, M&M's won't be a problem, it is the soda that will be hard to kick.
What have the other members done to deal with these feelings??
Hi Marc,
Congratulations on your surgery date! I am pre-op but read and read on the main board and it sounds like you are having your "your last supper binge"
If it's any consolation, when I thought I was having my surgery I did the same thing the week before, and did gain, but now have lost it back again. It is sort of funny because I don't drink soda or eat much candy but I piled it on. Not only did I feel disgusted with myself, but felt quite silly when I realized I was not getting the surgery.
If I may suggest that you get rid of those things, other than the Pepsi because caffein withdrawal can be gruesome. I have heard some people actually say goodbye to those things... a sort of funeral for them.
You worked very hard for this and it would be a shame to get it and then not maintain the tool. But I know that is not going to happen, because you are a determined, strong man and you will be just fine! Way to go Mr. Fireball! Please keep us updated as to your progress.
There is a men's site, you may want to go there as well, I am sure they may have some tips for you as this board is not very active.
Blessings to you and prayers for a safe successful surgery and journey. {hug}

Marc,
Hey guy!
Super normal to have those thoughts.
"I'll never be able to have______again...."
That "Last Meal Syndrome" hits us guys hard.
The good news?
It's based on a total false assumption.
Right off the bat Post-Op, there will be stuff you don't want to have
Because it will hurt your "new equipment."
But further out? It all becomes a matter of making choices
And just letting the good choices outnumber the Bad ones.
I've gone from 385lbs (a BMI of 50.1) to
179lbs (a BMI of 23.6) and have been at or below goal for over a year now.
Do I eat Normally?
Yes!
Just not like a 385lb. Man headed to an early grave.
I eat like a normal 179lb. Guy living a happy healthy life.
The "Pre-Op jitters" are bad for everyone.
They are as common for us as Deep Navels!
It's great to see other men out here.
We make up such a small percentage (12%)
Of the people having Weight Loss Surgery,
But tend to reach our goal weights quicker and with less
Or at least Different hassles than the Gals
Due to Male physiology. (sorry Ladies! But true!)
Drop by the Men's Message Board
And check out what other men like you are going through.
It's a diverse make up of Dads, Singles, Older, younger, etc...
Pre-Ops, Post-Ops new and some Old (at Goal) Post-Ops.
Lap-Banders, RNY'ers DS, etc...
Great bunch of guys with the mutual understanding
That WLS for Men can be a totally different Journey.

We've got a large number of Guys going in for Bands this month
As well as several Just fresh out of being Banded.
What? Was there a Sale on for Male-Banding last month?
It's Great to know we're not so alone,
And that there are others pulling for you.
There, you can get a whole bunch of advice, tips and tricks
For postponing that Chocolate / Pepsi Pre-Mourning!
You'll have an easier time of the whole deal
If you can even make little advances Pre-Op.
That Pepsi?
It's easier than you might imagine!
Mine was Diet Coke.
I used to keep those people in business.
The store where I bought mine
Must have thought I was using it to water my lawn!
Hope to see you 'Round the Boards!
Best Wishes-
