New centre of excelence
Norman Regional Hospital in Norman Oklahoma is now a medicare approved facility. It is a suberb of Oklahoma City. They're getting closer. Quite a bit closer than Denver. I haven't researched any Dr's there yet. There is Ronnie Keith, D.O. right in Norman and there is Philip Floyd, M.D. in Edmond so is Russell Gornichec. I HAVE NOT researched any of these doctors. I only know that they are in the area. I don't know if any of them use this aproved facility or if they even take medicare patients. I just wanted to post this in case it helps anyone. You can check for approved facilities at http://www.cms.hhs.gov/MedicareApprovedFacilitie/BSF/list.asp#TopOfPage
Hopefuly this is the first of many.
Hi, I emailed Dr. Keith's office and they do take Medicare and he goes to Norman Regional. I went to Dr. Keith's OH website and printed off the patient packet and am going to fill it out and mail it in. I would still like to go thru Junction City however if it is going to be awhile before they get certified then I guess I can't wait and will have to try and go with Dr. Keith.
I gave Dr. Keith's office a call to ask about how they would work my case. I wanted to know if I had to start all over. I was told that I would still have to fill out a packet and have a consultation apointment but I wouldn't have to attend the seminar again. They are going to send me a video instead. I will not find out if I have to repeat any pre-surgical tests until I actualy see Dr. Keith. I think I prefer Dr. Keith to Dr. Brown in Denver. Dr. Brown's heart just doesn't seem to be in it for Medicare patients. While I have no evidence that I would receive less than quality care there, I need to know that my Dr. is 100% into my needs. As a perk Oklahoma City is closer to me as well. As far as Jucntion City goes, I just can't see myself waiting around to see if they get their waiver or not. I just get the feeling that it's going to be a while.
Great news Mark!
For me, I think the distance is about the same as going to Colorado. I am in the Manhattan area. Not sure though, I am directionally challenged I am so excited for you and please keep your journey posted.
I no longer have a support system in place for post-op it tooks weeks to set up for the 6th, so I need to be still and see how things play out right now, but C'este la vie as they say in Kansas.
