Hello Fellow Kansans: Monday, 8/22/05 between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m. I will be having Lap Roux-EN-Y. I will be having it at Shawnee Mission Hospital with Dr Stanley Hoehn. I am ready, but now the time is dragging. I am nervious but not really scared. If you have any last minutes words of advice as to what I should take with me or have at home I am open for suggestions. Thank you everyone for your support! Donna Roberts on the farm

Good luck Donna!! There is life after RNY and it is might good!!! Do you have pleanty of support when you get home, and pleanty of good liquids? ou will proably do great since you are having Lap, but I imagine your diet following is the same. I lived on popcycles in the beginning, and I bought some "good broths" Not just Campbels, but some from the healty section. I think the brand was Pacific, but they were sooooooo much better than Campbels. Joan open rny 11/3/04 430/286

Joan you are doing great! I am proud of you also. I started out at 325, and by the time I saw my doctor I weighted in at 295. I am down now to 278 as of my final preop appointment. Thank you for your quick response. I have Choclate, vanilla, strawberry and non flavored protein drinks, 23 grams per serving and 1 gram of sugar. I have sugar fee jello, and swansons beef and chicken brooth. Many say they may not taste good after my surgery, I hope that is not so. I love my drinks right now. I'll be keeping in touch with you on the losing side. Donna Roberts

Congratulations on your upcoming journey.. this is so wonderful.. and it is a well traveled path.. We did the liguid diet thing for a week or two before the surgery to get ourselves ready.. and of course, the afterwards was total liguid.. I use the Pro-Complex protein powders and they can be blended or shaken with pineapple orange flavor Crystal lite.. this with the vanilla flavor protein tastes like a wonderful orange freeze.. yummy good and 55 grams of protein in each drink.. two scoops of the protein powders as per directions. There are so many wonderful flavors of Crystal lite that these drinks never get old to me.. and I am almost two years out.. Do use a tiny spoon once you start to eat anything at all.. it helps you to remember to take tiny bites.. And sip sip sip.. you will do terrific.. Congrats again and please post soon.. can't wait to hear how you are doing.. Happy journey my friend. Hugs, Fran
