Just checking in tonight! I am up and not doing anything and i thought i would check in and see how things are going with everyone. I also wanted to ask you all if anyone's eating habits have changed. I am able to eat bread like for sandwiches. And i mean the big size bread not just regular wonder bread. I even eat bagels and have not a problem with them at all. Its as if i have not had the surgery. I can even drink while i am eating it. I am not gaining any weight, but im noticing that im eating anything and everything...AND whats worse is that im eating all the dang time!!! Anyone have any ideas??? sure could use some advise on what to do to keep myself in check again...its hard to go back to basics when you are used to eating anything and it does nothing to you. I want to lose my last 20 pounds but i need some help...i cant wait till my classes start again...that will keep me busy im sure..... Hugs to all Cat RNY 1-19-04 414/220

Perhaps the problem with eating all the time, IS because you are no longer following the pouch rules. The reasoning behind not drinking with meals or for an hour after is so that the food you do eat is staying with you longer and you are satisfied. Also Eating lots of carbs in pasta, bread, etc, is not as filling (or at least not as filling for long periods of time) as high protein foods. Another point is how carbs affect your blood sugars. You get a high right after eating, but then you drop drastically later, making you want to eat. I know going "back to the basics" must be hard and it probably will be hard to change. But if you are aiming for a healither lifestyle, you need to get a grip on the rules and start foccussing on Proteins and veggies. you may be still loosing, but you might lose faster. I do allow mysef a "fun meal" once a week (like a slice of pizza or a pasta dish), but I still check my protein intake every day to be sure I get in my 60 - 70 grams. I log all my food on foodfit.com watching my carb intake and keeping calories under 1000. Keeping a food diary may be helpful too so you can monitor your patterns. I never eat sandwiches except as one of my "fun meals" Then I stick to a low carb wrap. This is of course my opinion. Joan 430/284

Good Morning to you Well now see that you are not at the support meetings and this subject was the discussion at this last meeting.. drinking with the meals is what is setting alot of folks back and we actually saw a demonstration about this.. NO drinking with the meal.. not till at least one hour afterwards and NO carbs like you describe.. remember the surgery is a tool... and YOU must stick to the original rules hon.. that said.. so how are you feeling otherwise? Taking the vitamins and doing the excersizing thing? Watch that protein intake and keep it up.. I actually make my sandwiches with cucumber slices or sliced meat and then fill it with protein.. tee hee hee tastes really good and stays together and with the cucumbers.. well bite size for sure.. yum good.. If you need anything please call hon.. Am doing what was suggested and started back on the first step myself.. to drop some more weight.. can't wait for my two year check up in three weeks.. exciting.. hard to stop eating like I was starting to again, and to start from the beginning but I made a game of it.. had to get a grip and rethink this surgery.. came too far to let myself go now.. tee hee hee hee How are you feeling since the plastic surgery? Bet the lack of excess skin is a blessing.. good luck in college and enjoy being able to sit in the classes without the extra you.. tee hee hee hee Have a fun filled sunshiny day.. Do let us know how you handle this.. Catch ya later and enjoy this healthy day. Hugs to you, Fran
