What is my first step?

Hi all- After close to 6 years of trying for WLS..I am going to try again. The problem was either we didnt have insurance or what coverage we had always had an ironclad exclusion for WLS. We just got our new cards and it is with BCBSKC and although I am not feeling too positive they will cover..I am going to take a shot. I thought it might be easier to bypass the PCP letter and go to a place like Livlite or similiar. Does anyone have some ideas? I am in Olathe, Ks and new to the area so any help is much appreciated. I reccomend getting on the kcbandsters through yahoo groups. There is a lot of insurance talk that might help. Sorry for dismal outlook but bcbskc has exclusions etc about wls. I am doing self pay in topeka. good luck cp

Hi Kim, I had my RNY in Junction City with LivLite. What I liked most about LivLite was that they submitted everything for me, did all the paperwork and even scheduled some of the appointments for me. (I found I could get some of the requirements done faster in Junction City than I could in Lawrence since the docs are less busy). They kept in contact with the insurance company, calling them weekly to keep them on their toes! I loved the surgeons there, Dr. Bolleman has had tons of experience and is very nice. Dr Stevens (he is now gone) did my surgery. They have wonderful helpful staff and the hospital is comfortable, well staffed and clean. I think you should take a shot at it again. You won't get approved if you don't try.
