Liv-Lite in Junction used to do lap band. They since have decided that it was not as effective as the RNY. Let me know if you have any more questions.

From what I understand, and I had open RNY in Junction City, Is that they do not think it doesn't work, they think open is more effecient. With Open, they can get a better seal of the pouch, thus eliminating many post-op copplications. And while they have the abdomen open, they can view other organs, and do any necessary biopsies, if ther are any supicious looking problems. This could eliminate a second surgery in many cases. They have an extreemly low complication rate, and are very proud of that. I LOVED the surgeons, and I am so satified with my choice to travel there for my RNY. Good luck on your search.

Ok first to make things clear. A Lap band is a device they put around your stomach to make a pouch (I believe this is the question that your asking about). No LivLite does not do that procedure I suppose according to their patients you have to be very diligent w/diet and the weight loss was not as good as w/rny. Now with the procedures being done open or laprascopic (lap) is another issue and in Junction they do their rny procedures open. As for Topeka I have no idea what their practice is. Let me know if you need more info.

Good Morning to you Well now to clear up some of this confusion even further.. yes, Topeka Tall Grass does do the lapbands and also does the open and Laproscopic Roux-en-y ... they have an informational FREE group meeting in Topeka at St Francis Hospital the second saturday of each month at 10 a.m. The meetings cover all three of these and tells you what you want and need to know and also the surgeons are there to answer any other questions you have, one on one !! It is wonderful and will allow you to investigate each and every corner of this terrific journey.. Good luck hon.. and best to you.. Dr. Steward and Dr. Berntsen are the very best.. Had the laproscopic roux-en-y myself.. am happy and do know other folks that have had the open roux-en-y and the lapband and each is happy with the choices they made.. Best of everything hon and any questions please feel free to contact me.. am here for you kiddo, Have a good day. Hugs, Fran
