BCBS of Kansas

Hello anyone have surgery and have BCBS of kansas? We just renewed our policy at work, and they have weight management as an exclusion. I guess they would rather pay for all of the other ailments I have. Please let me know if there is any hope. Thanks MM

It depends on who your employer is. BCBS does exclude weight loss but some employers pay for it. Federal pays and you can appeal to the company you work for if they are self-funder which is refered to as aso on your identification card.

It never hurts to try. You surgeons office will most likely know right off the bat if they will pay or not, even then you can appeal it. I had my RNY done in Junction City, and LivLIte took care of all the paperwork, and kept the ins company on it's toes. I didn't have BCBS. but I h ad the worst insurance carrier ever.

I could not help but reply----you have the worst insurance company in the world only if you have COVENTRY!!!! LOL! They are horrible!!

LOL, I had Central Benifits, so they must be the second worst. I have heard bad stuff about Coventry too. I am 7 months post-op and have finally had to send 2 claims, on for lab and one for the anesth. to the Insurance Commisioners office as they just all of a sudden decided they were going to stop paying? Strange company.
