Ok, so here's todays dumb question. Does anyone know of any insurance that could be purchased independantly? and would cover the surgery? our income doesn't stretch too far, and the insurance through my job didn't cover the surgery-and cost an arm and leg plus outrageous co-pays so i opted not to get it. now just looking for a way that i might be able to try to do this on my own?? actually, haven't even talked to a dr. or surgeon yet so have no idea on actual cost. have a lot to learn...............any advise out there?

Wow, I am not sure I have an answer for you. It would seem that by the time you bought independant coverage, and most companies require at least 6 month of coverage before paying for a "pre-existing" condition, you might be paying equal to your co-pay? I am only guessing this because I know someone who changed jobs just to get the coverage she needed, and had to work that job for 6 months before starting the process. My surgeon worked with me to pay over a period of time to pay the deductible and co-pays for mine. Good luck, Joan
