Anybody out there?

Hi everyone! I have not posted here before. Is anyone out there in the Junction City area? Fort Riley? I will be seeing my pcp tomorrow to talk to her about surgery. This will be my first visit with her because I just moved here. Having my medical records faxed to her. I am nervous that I won't get a referral. My BMI is 39.5 or 40, somewhere around there. I am 5'6" and approx. 240-245lbs. I have co-morbidities of blood pressure, cholesterol, degenterative disk disease in spine, arthritis in knees, hip pain, ankle pain. (My poor little skinny ankles taking all this weight!!!!!!) I am 55, female, married. Anyone out there like me? It seems everyone is so much younger. Would love to hear from any others like me. Hi Kathy! The Kansas board is a very quiet board. I am in Lawrence, but had my RNY last November in Junction City by Dr. Stevens. He is wonderful. There are informational meetings the second Tuesday of every month. Have you been to one? They are having a plastic Surgeon as a guest speaker in May, so the time is different, 6 pm I think. I am 53, and was much heavier. I started at 430 before surgery. Currently I am now to 311. Common over to the Over 50 board. There is a fun group of ladies there, both pre-and post opp. A very active board too! Maybe we will meet sometime at support group in Junction City. Joan

Greetings to you Just wanted to let you know there is a Fort Riley gastric bypass support group.. it is on line as well as very active there... I am not located near there but do so enjoy these folks.. they are very special.. Also had my Roux-en-Y done in Topeka at the Tallgrass surgical group.. it is so terrific how those surgeons really care and the support meetings are held the second saturday of every month at St. Francis Hospital.. Would love to have you there.. hope to see you, Meanwhile, Keep up those spirits and you will have this surgery, yes, lots of folks are the same age.. I am even older but happy as can be.. love these people and the heart felt warmth they give to each and every one.
