Hi Brandy!
I first contacted LivLite in Junction City whom I HIGHLY reccommend. They did everything for me. Contacted my insurance company, told me what letters to get, what appointments to get. Kept on the insurance company to give me an answer. IT was really no trouble for me at least. They did it all. Dr Stevens and Dr Bolemann are EXCELLENT and the hospital is up to date and I got great care. Several of the nurses had had the surgery, so they were very supportive too. It was nice to have someone else harass the insurance company! LOL I had surgery Nov 3 and am down 75 pounds, for a total of 102 (I lost a required 27 pounds the month prior to surgery)
Good luck
I actually contacted them first. Then send out a questionaire and information packet. I wnet to my pcp before I finished filling out all the information and asked him if he thought I was dioing the right thing. He whole heartedly agreed with me. I am 53, 52 at surgery. The only complications I had was with the incision not healing well. But that was not even serious, just took longer than he would have liked. I questioned the drive (90 min each way for me) but I never regret it. You will love the docs, they are so compassionate. They have a very low rate of complications. They (the entire LivLIte organisation) are seeking accreditation, and they only way you can achieve this special accreditation for Bariatric Surgery Centers is to have all the bells and whissles for the patients (support, etc) and an extreemly low complication rate.
There are informational seminars the second Tuesday of every month at the Hospital in Junction City. I just threw away the last flyer, but I think it is at 6:30 or 7. (Following our monthly support meeting) They are also holding them in other towns around the state. Call them and find out when they are going to be closer. The support groups are held by psychologist they have on staff, a dietician, the LivLite staff and both doctors and their nurses attend also.
I was very impressed with the hospital too. Very clean, modern, and excellent staff.
You would not be sorry.
JOAN,
I'M GOING TO CALL THEM TOMORROW AND SEE WHAT I CAN FIND OUT. DID YOU HAVE ALOT OF SUPPORT FROM YOUR FAMILY? I'VE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS FOR AWHILE OR TRYING TO. BUT SOME OF MY FAMILY DOES NOT THINK IT'S THE WAY TO GO. MY MOM HAD IT DONE 25 YEARS AGO AND IT DIDN'T HELP. I'VE TRIED TO TELL THEM IT'S CHANGED ALOT SINCE THEN AND THE COMPLICATIONS ARE NOT THE SAME AS THEY WHERE THEN. I'M 29 WITH 4 CHILDREN AND I'M HAVING A REALLY HARD TIME KEEPING UP WITH THEM. I THINK THIS IS THE BEST CHOICE FOR ME. IT'S NICE TO E-MAIL SOMEONE THAT KNOWS HOW I'M FEELING. YOU'VE MADE THE PROCESS ALOT EASIER FOR ME BY JUST BEING THERE TO ANWSER MY QUESTIONS. BRANDY
