Finally had my lap RNY done by the Tallgrass Surgeon, Dr Dunchee at Saint Francis in Topeka, KS. It went great and my 3 day stay in the hospital was uneventful. The staff was wonderful to me! Once the drain was removed, most of my discomfort was gone. I'm on clear liquids for a week, then full liquids for another week till my F/U appointment with Dr Dunchee on the 22 of March. I'm having no problems with gas or nausa and have pooped twice already. Egads, I hate drinking all this water. I've been eating "Cold Fusion" low frutose High protein frozen pops. They certainly aren't as tastey as "REAL" frozen treats and are a little expensive but I'm not going to complain as long as I don't loose too much hair. I still add Pro-stat to my sugar Free Kool aid once a day and take a chewable multivitamin. I haven't been on the scales yet, but on my surgery day, I weighed 232. Will keep you posted on my progress! Becca

Glad you had an uneventful surgery! Welcome to the other side! Keep pumping in that protein. Even at 50-60 grams a day, mine has started falling out. Didn't start for 4 months. I am now taking in 70 grams of protein and added zinc according to the dietician. Guess I will get a short hair cut next week. Maybe shorter will help. The good thing is that it IS temporary.

I'm going to request to talk to a dietician when I go in for my f/u appointment on the 22. I never did get a in writing answer about how much protein, calories and carbos I should take in daily. So far, I feel pretty good and take 1/4 mile walks twice a day and we have steps in the house so I'm up & down them many times a day.....escpcially with my overly active bladder and all this water!!!!!!!!!! )) Becca

I had a small hiatial hernia, too, and Dr Dunchee was totally unconcerned about it. He said nothing about it after the surgery. So far, I've had NO problem with my very severe GERD...yippee! Becca
