Bariatric Surgery

I have Cigna POS and I have been fighting with them about approving this surgery. My Dr. sent letters that it was medically necessary for me to have this surgery, because I am a Diabetic, have high blood pressure, asthma, chronic arthritis and other problems. I have been fighting since Sept 2004 for this and I got mad so I contact a lawyer to help in my case, his name is Gary Viscio from the Obesity Law Center out of New York. he wrote one letter to Cigna and today 2/22 I was approved for my surgery. Brenda, Congratulations! Here's a happy dance because I can remember how incredible it is to hear you are getting to have this life saving surgery! WOO HOO!!! I know it must have been very hard to go through all of those hoops and messing with an insurance company stinks. I am so glad you were able to get help and appreciate your passing on information that may help others who are also in this struggle. Good luck and god bless you on your journey, it is awesome! I am going to include Gary' e-mail and address so if anyone having problems with their insurance company please contact him he can help. He wrote Cigna a 14 page letter stating why this surgery should have been approved and that if it wan't reversed he had no problem taking legal actions against them to the fullest extent of the law.
