Has anyone had their weight loss surgery done a second time? I havent lost any weight in over a year and I am still considered morbidly obese. I dont eat sweets, I walk on the treadmill also. My doctor seems to think my stomach has stretched. I am seriously thinking about seeing if the surgeon will go in and tighten it up.

Oh Wow.. well now sure would like to hear what the end result of this is.. Who is your doctor/surgeon ? Very interesting... I wonder if this surgery can be done a second time myself.. h m m m m Wishing you the best of luck with this and do tell, if the insurance company will pay for a second surgery and if a second surgery is possible. Take care now and have a good day. Hugs, Fran

That is interesting. My surgeon told me not to worry, the pouch will not stretch. over time it will become more efficient and will give a little, but never stretch to hold all it did before. Are you still following the pouch rules? Are you monitorring your carb and calorie intake and your protein? I know the second 6 months is harder than the first. We just talked about this yesterday at my 3-month followup. That is when he said how important to follow the pouch rules and start monitorring intake. Good luck, let us know what happens.

You might want to check with your surgeon. The head of our support group had to have her surgery done a second time because her pouch actually grew to reattach to her stomach allowing food to go through her entire stomach and intestines. She had the RNY. I know that the banding has to be adjusted a lot in order for it to work correctly, I am not sure what kind of surgery you had done but I would definitely want my surgeon to check it all out to see what is going on! Good luck, let us know how it's going for you!

I don't know what kind of surgery you had but I know there are a number of people who just stopped losing weight while still MO or who gained back their weight and had their surgery revised to a duodenal switch. I don't think you lose as well with the revision but I'm not sure. Pam
