which way is best to go LAP Dr. here or Mexico?

I will probably be a self-pay patient. I live in Overland Park, KS and I have done some reseach on Dr. Malley and Dr. Hoehm and a Dr. in Mexico named Dr Alberto Aceves. He is much cheaper but the fills could be expensive because of travel costs. I noticed that Dr. Malley does fills for surgeries performed by other doctors. What are your thoughts on these doctors and using a doctor from Mexico to perform the surgery and then using a different doctor for the fills? How many days off work does one need for this procedure? Can the Mexico doctor write up a medical excuse to miss work if he has not seen you yet? I will be using my medical reinbursement account to pay for this. I am assuming that I can use this for a surgery that is performed in Mexico? They sure are cheaper.

Cheryl, I am also from Overland Park and my Dr. was Dr. Hoehn. He is a marvelous surgeon and such a caring staff and a great support system. The support system is very vital to a good recovery and ongoing support with others walking in your shoes! I would like to highly encourage you to consider Dr. Hoehn. Please visit his forum and check out what others have had to say about him. He also has an informational seminar once a month and I plan to be there for the next one. I had my surgery in March of this year and while I had complications, none were due to his skills. I would be very hesitant to go to Mexico and have this surgery for fear of about everything that could go wrong! Please make sure you weigh all your options before making your decision! I had my surgeyr in Topeka Ks with Dr. Steward at Tallgrass. The whole group is great and has a wonderful support system if you wnat ot go out of the area. Let me know if you have questions. Alice
