Can anyone tell me if it is possible for a person to still have lap rny done at a mtf and what the wait is? Have already been approved thru Tricare and now find out they won't pay for lap rny. Rhonda

Rhonda, Hi. I was the last one in my area to be able to have the lap. Im not really sure why Tricare ( sucky as it is ) would stop approving laps. the cost is sooooo much cheaper. Recover is half the time. I really think that we all should write and complain. If you are already aprroved then you can have the open right? I didnt even have my operation done at a MTF I had it done by a civillian doctor. If I can be of more help let me know. JILL

Rhonda, I too was approved and 24 days away from getting my rny. They cancelled by procedure, my dr. only does ryn laporscopic. I am planning on filing a appeal, but at the same time I am starting the whole process over again. I have been on the phone many hours with Triwest and not one person can give me a explanation as to why they won't cover it. Good luck to you
