Hi everyone,, I was just wondering for those who have already had their surgeries, that first week at home,,, how was it. Really? My husband won't be able to take any time off work other than the day of my surgery and to bring me home. My 9 year old will be home too she will be a big help too I am sure. But I was curious,, was the pain ok,,, what about moving around? How tired were you? Anything that I should plan for? I have read the blue book and just wanted some personal information. Thanks B

I'm a big weenie, and had my parents here with me, as well as my in-laws so i didn't have to worry about anything. i didn't have any pain to speak of (and didn't take pain meds after leaving the hospital) but i needed help with getting off and onto the couch. I took one nap a day usually around 2 pm for about an hour or so. More than anything i was scared to be by myself, and of getting depressed, so people being with me was more for company than anything else. It was nice to have someone to take my daily walks with (thanks dad!) and to have someone wait on me. I really think it made the healing process much faster for me because i could concentrate totally on me and my needs. Do you have friends who could drop by for company? I think i'd want something a bit more adult than a 9 year old all day long (although getting caught up on my cartoon network would be nice!) Make sure you have all of your food needs right at your fingertips, cause you should not be driving for a couple of weeks. I'd be happy to talk more about this with you if you want to; email me at [email protected] if you think of anything! michelle

My hubby was able to take off for me.. and that was so great.. had trouble getting up and down myself too but the best thing was that he made sure I had my liquids.. needed him alot.. (thanks hubby) Having your daughter there is terrific.. bet she is a little helper for sure. Take care and take one day at a time.. you will do so great... a marvelous journey to be on. Wishing you the best. Keep us posted here, we are all behind you 100%. Hugs to you, Fran
