My surgery isn't until next month 8/13 - but do you go ahead and purchase the vitamins, items for your food, etc to have ready when you come home? If so, does somebody have a list of items needed for the hospital and for coming home? Also, can you shower with an open rny? What about a bath? Just questions I have for now. Thanks to all.

I was showering in the hospital...it felt soooo good!!!! Don't worry about any meds or vits for the hospital..they take care of that. As far as when you get home...You will need: Multi vitamin...some poeple do the flinstones chewable, I had a liquid. Calcium Citrate...they're kinda big but you can cut 'em in half. There are some liquids in the citrate but I just couldn't do 'em. N.S.A. Carnation Instant Breakfast...chocolate was my fav. small box of instant mashed potatoes S.F. Jello Pudding S.F. Jello...you may only want to get 1-2 pkgs fo this, I was sooo sick of it when I got home from the hospital I have NEVER had Jello since. Skim -2% milk...your preference small box of malt-o-meal or cream of wheat. Splenda Cream of ??? soup...1 can was 5 meals for me. instant dry milk....to add to EVERYTHING for added protein...I never have found a protein powder I can get down and still add the I.D.M. to puddings soups and mashed potatoes. That should get you through your first couple of weeks. Your tastes are going to change after surgery...so don't go too crazy on the flavored drinks..maybe get a couple of small containers of a few different kinds...I still can't do the crystal light ANYTHING...and can occationally drink S.F Koolaid in Cherry and S.F. country time pink or regular lemonade. Even water tastes different...I have to have something purified..."spring water" tastes like dirt and I CAN'T even go close to my well water or city water...YUK!!!! Hope this helps...you'll find most of this info in the binder you get from liv-lite as well... BIG HUGS Deanna K
