Liquids

I have a dum question. I was woundering what are the liquids we can have on the liquid diet?? I am having surgery done on July 8th and I want to be ready.. any help please....Thank you, Brenda S. Burch ([email protected])

Dr. S. had me do clear liquids 1 week before surgery, and 1 week of clear liquids after surgery,then 2 weeks of full liquids, after that then it is 3 weeks of soft foods (which is what I am on now). Clear liquids are any thing you can see through at liquid stage. Sugar free Jello, broth, popsicles sugar free that is. That is what I ate the most of. I know will never eat another Jello if I can help it. Hope this helps. Diane Lap RNY -19.5#

Wow, things have changed since I had surgery. I was able to eat pretty normal up until the day before surgery. Wonder what prompted the change in protocol? I know when I saw Dr. S in Aug. before my Dec. surgery, he told me I wouldn't have a drain either....then that changed and I did have a drain until I was released. I guess they keep evaluating what works best.....and that is a good thing! Your date is getting close Brenda! Best wishes to you! Jenni -92

Grrrrr I am sooo jealous of you Brenda LOL,,, I am still waiting for my date,, I just had my 1st appointment with Dr. Bernstien on the 21st. and she said the liquid diet the week before was full liquids like slim fast and stuff,, and it was because the liver is so big on reg foods sometimes it makes it harder to get to the stomach and on liquids the liver shrinks some and is easier to deal with. That makes sense to me,, I guess I am not the dr so??? Anyway Good luck and wow July is soooo close I bet you can't stand it!!! Bekha
