It has been a long time

It has been a long time since participating in this group. My insurance denied surgery, and we're pretty poor so I had pretty much given up any hope. Now with all this talk of surgeries in Mexico, I can't believe it, but I'm actually thinking about it. I wanted a Lap band, and nobody here in Kansas does that anyway from last I looked, and I could not afford a 20,000 dollar surgery. I just have heard horror stories of botched surgeries in other countries. But I can't keep living with the pain and fatigue that is exasperated by my weight.

Well since I've looked at the websites I found that they are doing Lap bands in Kansas now, but I called and they are just as expensive. I have bad credit so I'm sure they would not let me make payments either. Why is this so damn hard to do? Also what day and time is it that they have the meetings in JC?? Can you just walk in?

Hey Teresa...the meetings in J.C. are the 2nd Tuesday of the month. There is a group of us in Hutch that go every month...if you want, we could meet you along the way and you could come with us!!! Gas is tooo much for all of us to drive!!!! You would always be welcome to go no matter where you have your surgery... BIG HUGS Deanna K

I think if you get on the main board and ask about the dr. in Mexico that lots of people go to (Dr. Aggulara??or something like that)......you will get lots of good information about him and his reputation which I hear to be wonderful. I have not heard one bad thing about him and they say his bedside manner makes you feel like you're his only patient...very kind as well as very skilled. Of course, this is just my observation, not based on my own research. Also, I do understand that he is much less expensive, but I think you'd still have to save (or borrow) multiple thousands of dollars to have it done....I doubt he takes payments from the US but who knows. Best wishes! Jenni
