lern from my mistakes
Just made Inventory of my life, and let me tell you,it's not a pretty sight.Had experimental stapeling in 85 it was new then, and not much known about. In 2002 had open RYN that did not work either, but had no computer and no idea there where other options.Have our 30th family re-union coming up this month, the only ones left is us 3 sisters, age 79,68 and me 62.Been so ashamed of my weight, that I never been to one,as the rest of the family are health fanatics, Sis walk's 5 miles a day,we stay in contact by phone once a week, but get lectures about my weight everytime. They never understud why I needed surgery to loose weight, and then twice on top too.Since both failed over the years,I feel twice as bad,and been finding excuses over the years, not to go.Told them ,if they lay off about the weight,I might consider attenting, but just gotten a big lecture yesterday again, that they worry about my weight, and all I have to do,is put my mind to it.The thing that is scarry,is that I come from a family, where every one lives till in there high 90's,even with stomach cancer (dad) oldest sis and mom with heart problems) With my health problems, that would be a terrible thing, and I hope to get hit by a Freightliner before old age. Always told the kids, that I hope I never get old unless I am healthy. So far I have been turned down by several surgeons,to have a reversal, told I am too old,too many past surgeries, too big a risk. Can't afford to travel or pay out of pocket, even if there would be a surgeon willing.Would like to know,if there is anyone out there that had a reversal surgery or for weightloss
(not just diabetic) over age 60.So please first do re search, then decide carfully what type is best for you,and have it done before you get to old.Too late for me.Thanks for listening.dema
After reading your posting I felt quite disturbed... for one thing, the True Roux-en-Y can NOT be reversed.. not ever.. am so surprised that no surgeon has told you.. it can NOT be done.. this should have been explained to you before you ever had it done.. we were ALL told about this and we have a support group we can attend that really helps us alot.. I am in the older field myself and am so happy and content and losing weight and just downright grateful for life and what remains.. Life is good and will be whatever you want it to be...
Sounds like you might want to consider some counseling to help you cope with this whole procedure and what is going on in your daily life.
Really wishing you the best of luck in your future and hope it will become all it can be. Best wishes to you, Fran
