Hello Kansas WLS friends!

In an effort to get a little more activity going on this board, (hint, hint) I thought I'd stop by and leave a post. How are you all doing???? Me, I'm personally a little tired of snow and snow days..(have had my darling children home 3 days so far this week....don't know about tomorrow yet). I used to love winter and snow....I loved COLD weather cuz I was hot all the time. YIKES! I'm now freezing all the time and can't wait till spring (which I used to dread cuz that meant that hot summer was coming). I have actually caught myself dreaming of summer lately. How weird is that?? I was a confirmed hater of summer for years. Otherwise, not much new.....same foods, same exercise, almost the same weight loss for a week...but now I'm seeing it at part of the cycle....and not freaking out because the scale stopped. Yes, me bad....I still am weighing every day. But it will get moving again soon. Oh, I've been having fun getting fingerprinted. I let my substitute teacher certificate lapse and they are letting me sub anyway now (cuz they know me....the principal is a good friend of ours and they know the paperwork is being filed). But now I have to get a background check including fingerprinting....well my first set were "illegible" according to the FBI..so had to go in to the police station an do it again today. It is NOT as easy as it looks on TV to get good prints! I bet these are going to come back too. I may have to quit subbing cuz they can't ever seem to get good prints! Hope you're all doing just grand. God bless, Jenni

Hi Jenni, Cool! I just left a message on Dr. Steward's board and saw your picture there. Then I came here and saw you had posted a message here. Hi! I'm having my surgery with Dr. Steward on March 11! YAY!!!! I can't wait to be on the losing side. I know what you mean about being a summer hater. That is something I'm looking forward to also because I, like you, am always hot. Can't wait to actually want to wear a coat when it's 21 degrees outside. People look at me like I'm a freak because I don't wear a coat. LOL! The finger printing sounds fun. Ha!Ha! I had to do that for employment once and had the same problem. If I recall it took them four times to get a set of prints that they said were "good". So good luck! Well, I just wanted to say hi. Have a great weekend! Carrie Hall

Carrie, I wish you the best....You've got a GREAT surgeon! I also get all those strange looks for not wearing a coat...****il very recently when I had to wear one)! I would sometimes go most of the winter without one....even while wearing short sleeves. And I would wear sandels (no socks****il December. That will not happen again, I can tell you! Keep us all updated. I won't tell you that it is a perfect and easy ride, but it is worth it. I've lost 40 lbs. in 7 weeks...the most I've ever lost at once in my entire life....I'm thrilled. Take care, Jenni

PS-- About my picture...I'm going to have a new one up in a few days. It doesn't show a dramatic change but my face is a bit slimmer and I have less double chin.....and I actually have a NECK! Jenni

Hi Jenni! I admit to being away from the boards more the usual. My biggest reasons have been just preparing for my PS revision which meant preparing at home and at work. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE what I do, but this time of the year is simply down right crazy! Thanks for the offer of the protein drink, I however would prefer you pass it along to someone who is still looking for the right drink for themselves. I understand how hard it is to find one you like, so feel free to pass it along to someone else instead. I am healing remarkably well from my PS revisions and must admit it is MUCH MUCH easier the 2nd time around than the first. I had lipo done on my arms this time around, the fat from the back of my elbows taken care of, and my implants pulled down into place (although they will continue to drop a bit more over the months). I can already say that I already LOVE my new boobies and love that for the first time in my life I can go out in public braless without my boob****ting my knees. This time around I am wrapped in ace bandages across my chest and then the ace bandages on my arms again. Because of the bad weather Dr. Rast has worked with me to not return until the 17th for my follow-up (also the same day I follow-up in JC), and then I will probably be ready for a real bra again. I will update my profile sometime after with the details from both visits. Either way, I still have lots of swelling, was off the pain meds by the 3rd day and slept on my tummy 3 days after surgery instead of 4 weeks like the last time. So definitely doing much better this time around. My next (and hopefully last) round of PS will include a TT (which I was denied for because of lack of documentation...I've NEVER gone to my PCP for rashes) so I will save up the $$ to have that done sometime in the next year. I am beginning to plan my summer plans and so far just another round of whitewater rafting and most likely either a 1/2 day or full day of mountain biking. Deanna & I will of course have our girls weekend and who knows what else. I have 7 weeks off during the summer so I pack in as much time as I can during it. What type of things are you and others planning on doing or trying either for the first time or again since WLS this summer? Deanna & I are also talking water skiing, something neither of us have done since we were 18, it should be super fun! Well that's the lastest on me. My focus has been on surgery, healing from one only to have another and just being busy at work. Hopefully later this month we are adding a new addition (puppy) to our family so that will pull me away from the computer even more, but I so can't wait. Woo hoo Big hugs to all even though I haven't been around much, I do think of you often! Sharon

Sharon, I am so glad to hear you are feeling well. I feel so bad that I have not posted to you sooner. I was happy that everything went well with your PS. I have actually started thinking about it. Not that I am ready for it, but my husband actually mentioned that we should start saving, because he knew that I would be wanting it eventually. He is right, I probably will! Sometimes, he is very smart....sometimes! Keeping busy with my homework so although I try to read, everytime I am on line now, I am doing my online class! Stay well and happy, you are awesome!
