Looking for support groups in wichita

Hi my name is Jen and I'm looking for a support group in wichita, new to area, and would like some help. I had my surgery in June 25, 2003 and have lost over 100lbs but I would like the support. Very lonely out here by myself. I had my surgery done in north dakota and am so very happy with the results. If someone could let me know some info so I can get back to a support group I would be so very happy. thank you

Hi Jen, I don't know about groups in Wichita but we do have one in Hutchinson on the 4th Thursday of the month. We also have people that come from places between Hutchinson and Wichita that I'm sure would love to have you ride along for part of the way to cut down on your drive time. You are always welcome to ride with me, I live in Hesston, which is about 1/2 the distance for you to come. The one group that I knew of in Wichita is no longer meeting. You could check with Via Christi hospital as they do the surgery. However, I believe they charge for their groups but maybe they could point you in the right direction. I haven't had my surgery yet, I'm scheduled for March 11! But the ladies in the Hutch support group are awesome and are so fun and inspiring! We would love to have you! Carrie

Hi Jennifer~ Welcome to Kansas!! I am still pre op, but am also very interested in a support group in Wichita. Last I knew there was one forming, but I haven't heard anything about it for several months... You might call the Bariatric Center at Via Christi Hospital as they are the only place in Wichita that does bariatric surgeries. I am scheduled for my psych evaluation on Feb. 17 and will probably have an appointment with my surgeon in early March. I will be sure to ask him about a local support group at that time.
