Need some encouraging words...
Hi all!
Overall I am doing great...just 5 weeks post-op and down 34 pounds!
I feel pretty good, EXCEPT for the last week I have had a horrible belching problem. At times I belch so much it makes me nauseated - had the dry heaves a couple days ago. It's difficult to even think about eating. My bra even hurts me where it goes across my pouch from the bloating. I can't wait to get home from work and take the darn thing off!
I've been using Mylanta (per the doc) for the past week, but it hasn't been helping. I am still eating extremely little - barely 1 egg or about 3-4 oz yogurt or one slice turkey wrapped around a slice of cheese. The doc has expanded my food list, but I don't feel like eating any of the new choices. Every once in a while something sounds really good, but I don't have it for fear of getting sick (usually something NOT on my list). Soups are great and go down easy. Struggle with getting all my water in, but manage at least 6 glasses a day. I did start drinking 1 protein drink each day to try and up my protein, but I am still only getting about 35-40g per day. At this point the doc keeps telling me not to worry about the protein as much as getting in the water. He did do labs on me at 4 weeks out and all was normal.
At what point where you able to eat a bit more? Words of encouragement? Please tell me this too shall pass?

OHHH Cherie...Poor Sweetie...I wish I could give you some better words of wisdom, but the only time I feel like that is if I have eaten or drank something too fast. I have to admit I belched and burped ALOT in the beginning but all pressure was easily released and I felt fine afterwards.
As far as your energy goes, you'll regain it once you can actually EAT!!! You must have fuel for that engine to run...protein drinks will help...keep those coming and keep plugging away at the water it's just soooo important.
Don't give up Sweetie...this to WILL pass!!! Keep trying to eat and keep getting in your water...you're doing AWESOME!!!!
