Eating Too Much

I am three months post op and am able to eat 8 to 10 oz at a meal with no problems. I have lost 41 lbs, which is great, but I lost 27 the first month and only 14 in the next two months. Two weeks out of surgery I was able to eat 6 oz of yogurt. One month out of surgery, I could eat a whole lean cusine meal. I have been telling my Dr. all along and tomorrow he has scheduled an upper GI. Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience. Thanks for any information.

Hey Donna, HI! Wow, I bet you're a little nervous, I would be. Who is your surgeon, it's not listed on your profile? First of all, 6oz of yogurt is not too much, yogurt is very thin, slides through quickly, so don't worry about it. Now, the Lean Cuisine....depends on the density of the protein in the meal and how "mushy" the whole thing is, some Lean Cuisines "mush" down to less than a cup! I'm glad you're going for the upper GI, that will put your fears at ease. Please post and let us know what you find out, and then we can go from there. You're going to be fine hon, hang in there (((hugs))) and smiles =)))

Deb, Thanks for responding. I had the upper GI today. The Dr that read the xray said that the stapleline had come loose. Contents were emptying into the old stomach. I was throughly confused. I spoke with Dr. Hoehn this afternoon and he said that it appears the old stomach had reattached itself to the pouch. Go figure! He said it happens in about 1 in 100-150 cases. He thinks it will be about a 20 minute surgery to fix it. He had not actually seen the xrays, I will be meeting with him next week to get all of the details. Donna

Donna, I'm glad you got some answers...I'm sorry that you will have to go through another surgery. Dr. Hoehn is a good surgeon and I know he will get you fixed up =). I am sure you are feeling confused, sometimes the old stomach will develop a fistula that attaches itself to the pouch and begins functioning again. Let me know how your meeting goes with Hoehn, I'll be thinking of you hon ((hugs))
