Introducing Myself
Hello Everyone. I'm fairly new to the board - (I've read but not posted). and decided it is time to participate. I'm 32, married and live in the Leavenworth KS area and had my surgery 9 weeks ago tomorrow. As of today I have lost 51lbs! (Not sure how on track that is) Although I know that is a great number and I can tell it in my clothing when I look at myself I do not see it. I know I need to work on this. It was been an interesting journey so far - the surgery was difficult (I developed pneumonia) but really not as difficult as I expected I went back to work on my 2 week anniversary date!! My two biggest problem are trying to get all of my fluids in! (I've never been a big water drinker but I'm trying) and eating at all since I'm never hungry now, especially between my protein drink and water. Anyway, I look forward to getting to know all of you.
Angie
Welcome Angie and congrats on your weight loss so far!! Sorry to hear that you had a difficult time though.
You are doing great. Yes, getting the fluids in can be especially hard if you've never been a water drinker. I had to switch to bottled water only (instead of tap) and that made a huge difference in my intake. Also, making sure it's kept cold in a cooler wrap helps too. You can also eat the SF popsicles to help with the liquids, those were very helpful to me plus it was a nice treat!
Congrats again and welcome to the Kansas Board! Hope you will become an active participant.
Big hugs,
Sharon
Welcome Angie!!!!
You really are doing GREAT!!!! I never would have been able to get my water intake in without decaf iced tea in the beginning...I also drank alot of Country Time S.F. pink lemonade. Keep up the good work and plugging along at the water. Glad you decided to join in...keep us posted on how you're doing!!!
BIG HUGS
Deanna
Hi Angie,
I still have trouble with the water and I am almost five months out. It is probably slowing down my loss but I get it as much as I can. I agree with Deanna, I drink a lot of lemonade and kool-aid made with splenda. That helps me a lot. I also try and keep bottled water everywhere... in the trunk of my car, in my office... that way I am never far away from water and have no excuse to at least be carrying one with me at all times *does this count as exersice?*
I'm happy you've come aboard. I don't post very often but I try to read often. Good Luck!
BTW: Your weight loss is fantastic. I am only down 72#s at four months!
Keep up the good work,
Dawn
Hello Angie,
Glad to meet you. I'm sorry to hear you had trouble during WLS, but it sounds like you are doing great now. 51 down so far is great! I'm almost 9 months out and have been very slow. So, you're doing great! Work on getting your fluids. If you can't stomach water, (which I couldn't for a few months) drink Crystal Light or flavored water. It really takes effort. I wasn't very hungry at first either, that's why it is so important to eat your protein first! Take care and welcome. There are a bunch of pretty wonderful people here. Congratulations on your transistion to the "losing" side.
Your WLS friend,
Carmen
