Re: I am getting very depressed about trying to find a ride to meeting on 13 of jan
Hello Everyone:
I am getting very depressed about some kind soul giving me a ride to the meeting In Junction City On Jan 13, 2004. I will pay for gas to get me there and back. So far I have had one rejection and the rest of my attempts to find a ride have been ignored. I know that none of you know me personally but I really do need to get to that semisr so that I can really get the ball rolling on geeting everything necessary for my WLS. I wouldn't be asking for a lift if I didnt need one. The liv-lite people said they might know of someone who would who lived in Manhattan, but I have not heard from them. Well andyways thank you for your time. If any one if willing to give me a lift email me at [email protected] thank you for your time

Michelle, don't take it personally about not finding a ride. I can understand your disapointment. You have to realize that Liv-Lite has their meetings on a Tuesday's evening and although lots of people attend them, there just may not be someone coming from that area this month. With the up and down of possible weather changes, people may not want to PLAN on going and if they decide to and just decide not go then that would disappoint you again. Many people, especially the post-ops, don't decide to go to a meeting until right before...if they have time. Again, I wouldn't take it personally, especially since IMHO everyone I've met associated with Liv-Lite (fellow patients included) is just freakin awesome!!
You may want to ask a friend there in Manhattan to take you. Manhattan just isn't that far from Junction City (I live in Western Kansas, anything within an hour driving distance is a short drive), maybe they could even just drop you off and pick you back up? Other than your parents you've probably got some friend who would be providing you some support through this journey?
Good luck to you!

I realize that the weather is ify this time of the year and that people are busy. I wouldnt have be dealing with this if my parents hadnt backed out on my as of last Sunday. I have very few friends in Manhattan that are single most ate married or do not live in manhattan. I thought about talking to my priest about seeing if some from church would be willing to take me to the seminar but I dont feel confortable with that.
As far as my parents they knew well in advance about the meeting and they ccanceled out on me. I love them dearly but with me this how things always work.

Michelle,
Can you have another talk with your parents and really express the importance of this...would be really good if they could go to the meeting too so they could learn more about it too....they might be more supportive if they could see and hear from people who've had the surgery. The seminar at JC is good, informational and informal....I've been twice though I didn't have my surgery there due to insurance issues. I wish you the best on finding a ride...I'm west of Manhattan about 90 miles so I can't offer much help but hope you find someone.
Best wishes and God bles,
Jenni
