Information on Dr. Udobi

I have a consulation scheduled with Dr. Udobi at KU Medical Center on January 9th. Can anyone who has had him as a surgeon give me an idea of what to expect? Also, how long it might be till for surgery from that first consulation date and what he requires of smokers? Any information about Dr. Udobi would be appreciated. Thank You!

Hi! I didn't have Dr. Udobi but I know many of his patients through the Kansas City Weight Loss Surgery Support Group. I know he requires that a patient attend 3 WLS Support Group meetings prior to surgery and that you quit smoking. I'm sorry I can't help you more than that but if you can attend a WLS support group meeting, I know there will be patients there of Dr. Udobi's. Best wishes! (((hugs))) and smiles =)))

Dr. Udobi was my surgeon (RNY 8-28-03); feel free to contact me at [email protected] if you would like more information than I give you here. I loved Dr. Udobi as a surgeon; he's good about getting back to you, but you need to understand that he is VERY BUSY. I had about 3-4 months between approval to surgery date; he will not schedule a date until you are approved. He is going to require you to quit smoking, so bite the bullet now and do it. Since you are getting ready to change your entire life with this surgery, you might as well go all the way! I have nothing but incredible things to say about the nursing staff at KUMED and the care that I received there. I have had no complications and have lost 65 lbs since surgery and am still steadily losing. I could go on all day about Dr. Udobi, so again if you need anything else just let me know! Michelle
