Well, I hope you get lots of replies! I check this board several times a day and I do agree that it gets a little slow. I am just at the beginning of my journey and really excited that you are getting ready for the big LOSER DAY! Ha!Ha!.... I know that you will get through these next few days and be such a stronger person because of it. What a great Christmas present to give yourself! You make sure to keep us all posted when you get out so that we know how you are doing. Good Luck!

Jenni, Too funny! Yes, you are getting SOOOO close to becoming a LOSER, woo hooo!! Let's see what kind of entertainment I can provide in a spare bit of time I'm having right now at work since I came in so early today. As many of you know I live in MAJOR western Kansas and well things are just kind of different. Today one of my teachers tells me that the ENTIRE TOWN buys every kid from birth to 18 one gift for Santa Day (the day before Christmas break), then all the senior citizens get something too. This is definitely one of those...you know you live in BFE when moments, because I sat here with a big ole open mouth as I hadn't heard this before. This is what I get for changing my base districts, huh? New information. Now, I'm not knocking that it's not a great idea and even kinda fun, but OMG the ENTIRE town gets into it like it's the biggest thing ever. Small town living I suppose. I have no problem saying that I'm transplanted from the city but am loving country living nonetheless. So, what kind of interesting traditions do your towns/cities have around the holidays? I grew up in KCK and I don't recall anything that exciting except the school Christmas program. Let's see what else I can provide you to ease some stress, Jenni...we had a snow day last week for anticipated major snow that was to be received. We actually only received about 1-3 inches depending on where we were at...why were the schools closed?? THE DRIFTS! Some places had 6 inches to 12 inches of drifts all from the wind. Again, you know you live in BFE, when... I LOVE living in Kansas and even here in Western Kansas, I'm just too busy to enjoy it most times. I do try to post early in the mornings when I'm up and around, just admit that my own PS recovery has been a bit rough on me lately. Today is 3 weeks out and I can finally say that I feel like me and am HAPPY again. Woo hoo Didn't wake up in pain and reach first for a pain pill or Tylenol or anything like that. Slept decently last night and well, just getting back to me. So, Jenni, know that I'm raising my arms (what I can) in a YEAH you're day is getting closer kind of way. Normally, I have all kinds of funny things going on to tell stories about to help ease your anxiety, it's just Monday though and nothing too exciting yet! Big hugs, Sharon

Sharon, I can totally relate to small town KS life, having lived most of my life in relatively small KS towns. Now, I can't say I've ever bought the whole town (practically) Christmas gifts but it is a sweet idea!!! I hope your healing is swift! Thanks so much for posting! It made my day hearing about what was going on there! Jenni

Wow Jenni...only 3 days to go!!! I am so excited for you! Close your eyes and imagine what you will be doing in 1 year...imagine the possiblilities...can you see it???? You know all that money you are going to save since you won't be eating hardly anything???? Well, save it up ...you'll need it to buy new clothes....and wow, so much fun that will be!! I know it's normal to be a little nervous about now, but keep thinking about why you are doing this. Stay focused and all will go well. I'll be thinking of you! cherie

That was a great reminder.... I REALLY do need to keep my focus on the transformation that is about happen.....it is so much more pleasurable thinking than thinking about needles and incisions and the like. I took my first trip in years into a "regular sized" clothing store the other day...and did a little dreaming. I can hardly wait. Thanks for posting!! Jenni

Jenni, Dont feel like you are on this ride by yourself, I feel the same when it comes to the anxiety. Everytime I read one of your posts I feel like its me talking. I am having tons of emotions, this is my second time around as to having this surgery scheduled. I did not make it this close to my date last time and I am a bit excited with thoughts that I might just someday see the happiness I have been striving for all my life. I wish you all the luck and I will be thinking about you on your big day crossing over into the life of happiness. You will do fine, and also you have a very good Dr. I have a close friend that recommended him to me , my friend is a heart surgeon so if that tells u anything, just remember you are in good hands. See you on the other side, Michelle

Michelle, There is something very comforting about knowing someone else is walking in similar shoes. It is also very comforting every time someone affirms the skill of the surgeon I have chosen. I like Dr. S very much and have been told by many that he is both skilled and compassionate...I am so thankful. Sounds like you and I have had a very similar journey. I remember when I got "closer" to this surgery than the last time it was scheduled. It was a milestone for me and made me really feel that it was going to happen....I have had so many emotions though. The strange thing is that I am normally a VERY decisive person and once I make a decision, I almost always move forward with confidence with it with no looking back. So all these emotions have really "caught me by surprise." But it is my huge hope that a month from now (or even sooner) I really will feel that "no looking back" feeling. Thanks so much for posting and God bless you on your journey! Jenni
