Has anyone had a stricture at two months out?? What is it and what can be done about it and how urgent is it, other than the pain.... Can you learn to live with it somehow without any further surgery or is surgery even necessary?? Thanks folks, have a good weekend. Hugs to all, Fran

Fran, eww you think you have a stricture?? I'm so sorry to hear this as you were doing so well. I have no advice for you as I have not had one and it's an area I know absolutely nothing about. I'll send you a BIG HUG anyway and let us know what you find out. Sharon

Please Fran speak to your surgeon. Stricture can be due to temporary swelling or longer term closing of outlet. These can be easily taken care of but your surgeon is the one to speak to about problem. When you feel better could we talk I'm scheduled for surgery soon. M3

Yes I did. It was a stricture of the stomach to small intestine opening caused by scarring. I had one dilation procedure on Dec 17, 2003. A second will be done on Jan 2, 2004. I may need a third. Only time will tell. There was no pain involved. Just a lot of nausea and salivating. It forced my diet to jello and liquids. Three bites of solid food always caused this problem that would last up to three or four hours. After the dialtion I could almost eat normal again at least for 8 days. Then I could tell that the opening had gotten smaller again. The nausea and salivating is not bad maybe only half an hour but it tells me that the opening is too small again. Oh well, it will all get straightened out in time. Good thing I still like jello and don't really get hungry. If you want to learn more about strictures and see a couple of photos of the strictrure take a look at my web site under "stricture". http://www.knology.net/~jdaniel/wls.htm Joe - 371-304-230
