Question for those who had surgery at St. Francis....can hubby stay there during the nights....is there a place with at least a recliner? I really don't want him to leave the hospital the first night or two. How have the rest of you handled that? Thanks. Jenni

Hi Jenni, I didn't have surgery at St. Francis (geary county) but my husband stayed at the hospital almost every night. The first night when I was in ICU he stayed slept on the couch in the waiting room. When I got my own room they brought in a recliner chair thing and he slept on that. He went home for two nights to be with our kids during the weekend I was in the hospital. I am sure the topeka hospital is just as understanding about spouses wanting to be there for their wives! It also helps them because they don't have to come to the room to help us out of bed every time we need up, or pull the table closer, or refill the ice pitcher... etc. You get the idea right?! Good Luck! I know you must be getting very excited! Your time is almost here! Dawn

Yes hon, I had my surgery on Sept 15th and my hubby never left my side.. the staff rolled a cot in for him and it was so great.. was there 4 nites and home on the 5th day.. terrific.. also just visited a friend yesterday and her hubby stayed too.. so St. Francis is great about that... wonderful indeed. Good luck to you Hugs, Fran

Jenni, Yes just let them know that you would like to have your husband stay. I was able to get a roll away cot for my husband and he stayed with me the first night. He could have stayed the rest of the time too but stayed with a relative in Topeka.
