Just found out today that the program I had planned on having my surgery through has been (essentially) shut down by the hospital that provides their services. It's been 90 days with no reply from Cigna yet and now I have to find a new doctor. Anyone out there with a doc in/near Kansas City, I'd love to hear from you. You know it is going to get bad when not only the insurance companies are not cooperating but when the hosptials say no more..then we are in trouble!

Hi Kathy! Sorry to hear about your hospital troubles. I am a HUGE fan of Liv-Lite in Junction City, which is about 2 hours from KC. They are the only bariatric program in the state and have wonderful people to work. I have no problem admitting my bias. There are several surgeons in the KC area doing surgery, you may want to do a search on the link there to the left that list Bariatric Surgeons. Wow, that's the first time I've looked at that list since I decided on Dr. Bollman. Last year there were less than 10 surgeons, and now there are lots in Kansas! Good luck to you in whoever you choose! BIG HUGS! Sharon

Hi Kathy, I am working with the Bariatric Center of Kansas City, Dr.'s Hoehn and Hitch**** They are both very nice and knowledgable. Their office is about 75th and Antioch in Overland Park and they use Shawnee Mission Medical Center - rated in the top 100 in the country. Check them out!

I have to agree wit Deanna. I would suggest going to Junciton City, too. Dr. Bollman was my surgeon. I can't say enought WONDERFUL things about the care I received at Geary Community Hospital. Everyone is very kind and caring. Most importantly, they pay close attention to detail. The ladies (Pam Weeks and Patty Maycroft) that run the Liv-Lite program are awesome and handle all the administrative stuff very smoothly and seem to be able to get the insurance approval pretty fast.
