No Bariatric Doctor will except me after out of state move.

I just want to say it is pretty said when a person go's through all this surgery to change there lives. And I had to move to Kansas because my Husband took a job transfer to have a job. I have called many bariatrics doctor to find one to take over my care in Kansas from Michigan and not one will except me and I have good insurance. At least I know my Doctor in Michigan will except me so I have my 6 month Appointment with him. Thank you Dr. Jamal Farhan for being such a wonderful man.. Went to my new Family Doctor today She said the same thing it is going to be hard for me to get another bariatric Doctor to take over because he didn't do the surgery. Thats said I thought That Bariatrics of Excellence ment something. Now I have no support group to attend I am on my own. ^ months out and very flustrated...... I Live in Overland PArk Kansas if anyone has ideas. Help... Loving My Sleeve Sherri

I'm so sorry to hear that. I live in the Dallas area, so can't help you there. But I will ask my doctor if she knows anyone in your area. Sometimes the doctors will recommend someone. Good luck in your search. Thinking about you.

Thank you. I am going to Michigan to see Dr Farhan my Surgeon hope he can help me too.I have called 7diffrent bariatric doctors here and the all say no. One said they would take me but it would be $350.00 for the first visit and $200.00 there after. I have good insurance so I shouldn't have to pay that. I am no going to let it get me down though. I recommend that you contact member services through your insurance company.  I bet they can assit you in transferring your care.  See ya and you are doing great!!

This will let you search by zipcode for closest surgeons, physicians listed with FOLL have indicated they accept followup patients from other surgeons.   SG is the code for VSG.

Office staff can be annoying, that may be their standard answer so that patients are not hopping doctors in the same city.  If there was one you were interested in that lists FOLL call back and raise hell about their ASMBS membership profile.   

They may be leary if they don't practice the SG but all they need to do is annual bloodwork and know you for the rare case you need a followup surgery for a complication.

Thank you I will try this too.  This is alittle scarey but the new doctor Family Doctor I picked say we will work together to make sure everything is good. I am going back to Michigan on the 18th and have an appointment with Dr. Farhan my surgion for my 6 month check-up. Then I have six months to find someone. Before my 12 month check up. Have you tried the doctors of Tallgrass in Topeka?

No not yet. I live in Overland park area so I was trying to stay close. I am flogging to Michigan to be with my dad for his RNY surgery on the 20th so Dr Farhan said he would see me on the 19th for my 6 month check up. Then when I come back I am going to contact more if he can't talk someone into taking my case. If not I will just contour seeing him.  I had a revision to the DS done by the surgeons at Tallgrass in Topeka. It is a little bit of a ride but well worth it. I live in Raytown, MO. They are excellent doctors. Peace jojo
