Wichita Support groups or casual meetings

I live on the West side of Wichita and was wondering if anyone would be interested in starting a support group or maybe casual meetings with others who have had WLS?  I am 2 yrs post-op and fairly new to the area and in need of friends who have gone through the same thing.  Let me know if your interested.

I am interested in getting together with some WLS sisters! (and brothers).... I live in Mulvane, but I am all over Wichita so locations really isn't an issue. I work with 2 other WLS people, and 2 other ladies that work for me are pre-op.

My local surgeons office said they were going to start an "open group", however they have had some staffing changes, so I am not sure if / when that will happen.

I was browsing and found your message among others regarding a support group in Wichita. I am a Nurse Practitioner and we have a monthly support group held at the Genesis Health Club, 854 N. Socora on the first Thursday night of the month at 7 PM. This group is open to anyone who is interested in weight loss surgery or has had any weight loss procedure. There is no charge for the support group.

Thank you this is a great start.  Is there a contact person for this group?  I guess the next on would be in Dec.?

Yes, anyone in my office can be contacted at 316 721-5591. I am the facilitator for the group. Our next meeting will be December 3 at the Genesis Health Club, 854 N. Socora, Wichita, KS. Please come join us. Our topic will be de-stressing the holidays.

I just found out that Wesley Hospital is launching it's post op support group on the 24th of this month at 6pm. This will be there first meeting and is open to any post WLS person. As far as I know, there is no charge. I plan on attending. If you want more information, you can email Amanda Sill, the Bariatric Coordinator for Wesley, at [email protected].
