Super Morbidly OB lap band medicare? ks

Anyone know of a surgeon/center that handles super morbidly obese and has medicare?
it's for someone 5'11" about 500 - 525 bmi is about 73 i think.  in kc area....

I don't have any information, but the first thing that came to mind reading this was that someone that is SMO should research another option besides LapBand...RNY or DS specifically.

Hi, I originally wanted the lapband myself, but after going to a seminar and listening to the surgeon (dr. hornbostel in sedalia, mo) I decided on the rny. dr H used to do the lap but quit because he said that patients didn't lose enough weight and keep it off to make it worthwhile, I am sure there is some surgeon who will take your money and do it, but if you really really want to lose the weight permanently than the lapband is not your best bet, I weighed 375 a year ago ( as of april 7) and am down 130 lb.s so far , much luck to you, Susan.

Hi Crystal, did you try Dr. Steve Malley? He is at KU. I have heard great things about him. His practice is a center of excellence. They take medicare. Good luck. Mona

suntart66... I am new here. Still unsure if I want to do this. Not even sure I can qualify I have so many medical problems. I do have medicare and a supplement. And going to have it done by TallGrass in Topeka. I have completed all the requirements -- soon to have the consultation appointment. Can you give me some perspective as to how things went for you?
