Hi Again!
Hi Everyone!
I haven't been around in a while and wanted to stop in and say hi and give an update. Last you heard from me I was frustrated at the long classes at Solutions. Well, I made up my mind that I wanted to do it right so I resigned myself to the classes. They went by much faster than I expected and I did learn a lot. I feel they have given me the tools I need to make my surgery a success.
So now I am just in a holding pattern. I finished my classes in early Nov. and had my psych eval. I am now just waiting for the wheels to slowly turn and get my insurance approval clearance and get my appt. with the doctor. Dr. Dort will be doing my surgery and hopefully I will meet with him early in Jan and then set my date. I've been getting very discouraged at the way things were dragging but they have assured me that it's normal. And the clearances and tests I've had to get. I know it is for my own good but it seems to just be lengthing the process. I just want to get it done! I'm having lap band in case I forgot to mention it.
I will try not to be such a stranger and report in more often. I don't like near any support groups so I need the support of all here.
Ginger
Congratulations on moving along the pre-surgery track. I remember feeling like it was taking forever, too, but you'll get to the end of that road, and the next stop is surgery! :)
How far are you from Winfield? Probably too far, but we just started a support group. Our next meeting is the 2nd Sat. in January. Even if you can't come personally, I (group leader) would be more than happy to have you PM me with any questions, at any time. I'll help all I can.
Blessings,
Mary

I'm about 90 miles NW of Wichita so quite a ways. Thanks for the invite however. I saw in the paper that there was a support group in Hutchinson so I may try that. But I'll wait for winter to let up before I try much of that. I'm just glad I got my weekly classes out of the way before icey roads.

I live in Hutchinson, and am trying to find a surgeron in Wichita. I see you mentioned Dr. Dort. Does he require you to do classes? or what are his requirements does he have? I actually was banded on 12/23 but moved to the area and now have to find someone to do my fills. Any info you can give me will help!
Thanks, Tina
Yes, Dr. Dort requires classes prior to surgery but not sure what his requirements would be after. I'd suggest calling Kate Jantz at Solutions for Life (316-689-6115). She is the bariatric coordinator and could tell you what you need to know. If you call Dr. Dort's office they just refer you to Solutions.
Another resource is the Hutch support group. I have not been to the meetings yet but intend to. I looked online on the Hutch News for the info and they had it listed here http://www.hutchnews.com/Other/Support2009-01-03T18-39-43 Scroll down to the weight section. There are a couple of phone numbers listed that you might be able to find out info from. I will probably try to start going to those meetings.
