Hello!  I will be meeting with Dr. Steward next month, and am wondering if any of you who have had him as a surgeon would like to share your experiences with him and Tallgrass (St. Francis) hospital.  I would like to know a LOT more about him and the facillity.  Please dont be shy, I would like to hear good and bad, so I can prepare.  I passed my MMPI, and got the official go ahead from my therapist...so I am happy to have that done!  Thanks in advance if you reply!  Kari

Although I am still pre-op, I will be having my WLS done at Tallgrass/St. Francis. I have done some research re: the Tallgrass surgeons & St. Francis Hospital, and everything I have found has been positive, only negative comments were about the usual stuff when you're in the hospital, i.e. nurses taking too long to respond - but unfortunately that is pretty much the same wherever you go.  I hope this helps a little bit, and I wish you the best

He rocks!! I think Dr. Steward is a great surgeon.  Absolutely no problems.  In fact when I had to have my gallbladder out 6 months after the band I went right back to him.  I figured Dr. Steward has already seen my insides so why have anybody else do it. You won't regret going with him.  I am very happy with Tallgrass and Dr. Steward.

Kari,

I'll even give you some more to read.

That is the link to all of the feedback on Dr. Steward here at Obesity Help.

Dr. Steward is just the greatest. We have a pair of surgeries here at our house that turned out just great. I had my RNY a year ago in May and then, my wife, had her RNY just this past June. Please tell him that John and Christine say hi.

The whole Tallgrass (Turning Point) group is just fantastic. We are fortunate to have such a top-notch group right here at out back door.

Best wishes to you. What an exciting time for you. You will get your life back if you work the tool and follow the program.

Also, if you want to see a short slide program, I've made one that includes Dr. Steward. Just go to my profile and click on the slide show...it is only 2 minutes and most who see it do report back that it was rather helpful.

I have to go with John. We are SOOOOOOOOO fortunate to have Dr. Steward right here with us. He is top notch, one of the best. He's great all around, and he always CARES about you! I am grateful to have been his patient. St. Francis is first rate as well.

Well, I didn't have Dr. Steward but I did have to go to him once when my surgeon was out and he seemed wonderful.

I had a GREAT experience at St. Francis. My nurse was very on the ball with everything, and when she wheeled me out of the hospital we found out my car had a flat tire. My husband had just had surgery himself and couldn't change it, and the security guards refused! So she got out our jack and changed my tire all by herself. And was extremely nice while she did it!

My husband didn't have a lot of attention while he was in, but then again I was standing right there doing everything for him. He got what he needed, and didn't even notice they weren't being attentive until he saw how they were with me. Good luck!

Revised from band to sleeve on June 6th, 2012. Lost 48 pounds on my own in the 4 months prior to revision.
