Frustrated over the wait
Hi everyone,
I am completely frustrated. I went to the orientation meeting two weeks ago and when I didn't get a call within a week, I called and emailed until I finally got through yesterday. and got things jump-started. My physical is on Sept. 10 and then I can start my 8 weeks of classes and 3 psych appts. She said I'd be looking at the end of Nov. or early Dec to have my surgery. Gads that is a long time.
Does everyone have to go through this much and wait this long? Oh and I should also say that this length is not because of months of dieting I have to do. My insurance doesn't require that. And for each of these 12+ classes and appts. I have to drive about 200 miles round trip. I am beginning to think that I did not pick the right doctor.

Ginger,
It does take quite a bit to get everything in motion. Just try to enjoy the time to look forward to your new life and research a lot here on OH. You can learn so much during this time. If your BMI is high enough, I'd encourage you to get started losing as much as you can before the actual surgery. I dropped almost 50 pounds before surgery and you can count on an easier 100 pounds from the surgery itself. Beyond that, it is totally up to you how well you do. I worked with Tallgrass group (known now as Turning Point) and was totally satisfied wiith the top-notch and professional approach to weight loss surgery. They easily get my five-star rating...

Regain of 20 pounds has thrown me for a loop - will not let this get the best of me - what am I doing about it?

I went to the info seminar on July 12, sent in my completed pt info form on July 24, got a call on Aug. 5. Have to do a 3-mo. medically supervised diet which I started on Aug. 11, so that won't be completed until early to mid Nov. I completed my psych eval. Don't know if I'm going to have to go to any classes or anything. If you're looking at Nov. or Dec. for your surgery, then I guess I might expect to have mine after the first of the year. If you don't mind my asking, where are you having your surgery?
I'm having it done in Wichita through Solutions for Life and Dr. Dort. I started my classes this last Wednesday and I have to go for 8 weeks. I hope the rest of the classes are more stimulating than the last one. It was repetition of stuff I already knew. Since I have to drive 200 miles round trip each week, I guess I want more bang for my buck. But I'm trying to be compliant.
I was feeling a little frustrated & discouraged too about the lengthy process but I posted on the main message board & several people responded & helped me put it all into perspective. I must say that I do feel better in general doing this diet and exercising in preparation for the surgery. I know it seems like a long time, but just keep doing what you need to do. The more knowledge you have about the surgery and the better condition you are in before surgery the better things will go for you. I wish you the best
