As of Oct they weren't doing it because I went to a meeting there. However, I have since heard they were now doing lap band. They really pushed RYN. That frustrated me a little. However, they were really nice and very very helpful.
I have been very happy with Tallgrass in Topeka. It is 1hr farther but they have done so many and seem to be pretty equal in supporting Ryn and lap band.
This is just my feelings, however.
I really like Tallgrass also. She is just not wanting todrive the hr. I dont like it but I didnt have a problem with it LOL :) I had heard on the radio that they were doing Lap RNY there now right after I had all my approvals and date fro Topeka. Or I might have switched LOL But I do like Tallgrass..
No where else is it a good thing to be called a LOSER I love being a loser!!

Hi Dani,
I had my open RNY done at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City. Dr. Bollman and Dr. Narcisco prefer the open RNY, and I could not say enough nice things about them. They are wonderful. The surgeons, along with a wonderful hospital sure made my RNY a wonderful experience. I'd have your friend attend a seminar and go from there.
Good Luck
Theresa
I understand not wanting to make a long drive, however, I chose Junction City, which is a 4 1/2 hour drive from my home. The most important thing to remember in choosing a place to have your surgery, is feeling very comfortable with the place and surgeon where it will be being done. Good luck with the surgery, and let your friend know if she needs a freind I'm here!!
I had lap RNY done in December 2007 in Junction City. Tallgrass in Topeka is not only back logged until August 2008, they also make you jump through too many damn hoops to get to the doctor. All the support group meetings...I also didnt find them as friendly as the ladies and docs in JC.
You can email me if you have any questions............... [email protected]
By the way, Im also an active duty military wife.

I also had the RNY procedure (not lap band) by Dr. Bollman in Junction City. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I transferred from a different facility due to delays with scheduling problems and don't regret it at all. I also can't say enough good things about the nursing staff at Geary Community Hospital. They were wonderful. Most of them had had the same surgery and didn't hesitate to come and talk to me about it and answer any questions I had. I also chose to drive further from my house to have the procedure done at Junction City. I truly don't believe I could have had better care anywhere else.
