This is where I had my surgery, although not on Medicare, they took it at the time. They are WONDERFUL!!!
They still take Medicare, which covers WLS, including my DS.
Kansas chooses to not have its MedicAID cover any WLS; some other states do cover WLS in their Medicaid programs.
It appears that Tallgrass used to accept WLS patients who had both Medicare and Medicaid, but they stopped accepting that combination in 2009 or 2010 for WLS, I guess because they would have to eat such losses from Medicaid not paying its share at all.

My surgeon was Dr. Hornbostel from Sedalia, Missouri. His phone number is 660-827-0423. They do require you go for a meeting and then fill the paperwork at and fax or send it back with you're medicare info. I will have to say it was a breeze. They take care of all the legwork from there. You can even check him out online if you want too. The hospital is Bothwell. I would call and see if they have a cancellation to get in early. Hope this helps!
I know most people are looking for wls on this thread, but thought I would post on the plastics ...KU medical center accepts medicare for the panniculectomy (if you meet the medicare requirements). I had dr Ponnuru and he did an outstanding job, even did extras (more like a full tummy tuck only chged for the panni)still recovring 4 wk.s later but SO worth it!

Do you have Amerigroup, Sunflower State, or United Healthcare medicaid plan?
