Hello Members,

On a daily basis we get calls from members in desperate need of surgeons that will accept Medicaid and or Medicare for Bariatric surgery.  It breaks our hearts when we have to say "we don't know of any surgeons in your state we can refer you to".

Can you please help us? If you know of any surgeons in your state that accepts Medicaid and or Medicare, will you list their:

Name

If they accept Medicare and or Medicaid

Phone number

Facility

Address

This list will remain here for our members to access and use.

Thank you so much!!!

I know of Dr Hornbostel in Sedalia , Missouri, working out of surgical services of sedalia and or bothwell regional health center. He and the hospital accept MEDICARE I do not know about medicaid, they are a center of excellence, medicare approved. Sedalia is only maybe an hour from kansas city , maybe less.

My Surgeon accepts Medicare but not Medicaid. Medicare covers 80% of his costs. The Practice is located on the Shawnee Mission Medical Center campus. Their website is www.KCBariatric.com and you can click on his name under my screen name (to the left side of this post) to go directly to his OH page. Phone number is 913-677-6319.
Hope this is helpful,
Connie

All of the surgeons at Tallgrass in Topeka Kansas take Medicare. They work out of St. Francis hospital which is a center of excellence.
My surgeon was Dr. Hornbostel in Sedalia MO. He works out of Bothwell Regional Hospital which is a center of excellence as well. Kansas Medicaid WILL NOT cover wls. That's unfortunate to say the least I know.

I am on Medicare and used Tallgrass for my Realize gastric banding on March 5, 2009.
My doctor is Dr. Bernsten and I saw her PA last Friday, March 13th. I will go for my first
fill on April 22.

Medicare will only pay for fill every 91 days now. So, if you get a fill that's too tight,
you may/will have to pay out of your own pocket to get it unfilled or wait the 91 days.

Knowing this, I think I will ask for smaller fills, it may inpend my weight loss, but it will
be at a rate I can work with and afford at the same time.

I got a call from Turning Point in Topeka today (Tues 2/23/10) and they are no longer accepting Medicare or Medicaid because they have had too many billing issues with them.  I had all my paperwork and just needed my first doctor appointment in order to schedule surgery and now I am hunting again for a doctor to take my insurance.
