Any help with pre op diet ideas.  They said I can have adkins drink , no more than 2or3.  broths.  Clear??  Is it mainly just not having sugar??? I am going to tallgrass?   10 day pre op.  I am having surgery Mon. Dec. 3.  We will be out of town until Sun. after Thanksgiving.  Guess I will be cutting it close as we are suppose to have a big dinner on that SAt.  So will have to stick to the diet the rest of the time.

I am scheduled for surgery on November 29th.  I started my 10 day pre op diet today! Did you get a pink sheet from Tallgrass?  Not sure if yours is the same since you are having Lapband and I am having RNY, but mine has several options. I can have 1 cup of milk, 8 oz of yogurt, or 1/2 cup of cottage cheese 3 times a day.  Also I can have 2 apples, 2 oranges or 1 cup of watermelon a day.  I can only have that if I don't drink the powerade, gatorade or fruit juice.  The juice, gatorade or powerade is limited to two cups or less each day.  I can have all the sugar free jello, popsicles and broth I want.  I can have three servings a day of regular jello, popsicles or no-sugar added fudgesicles.   Like you I can also have the atkins or carb solutions shakes.  I can also have all the sugar free beverages I want.   Not too exciting.  So far so good though.  I think I might get bored of the choices though!   GOOD LUCK!

I just got home from my blood work and ekg.  Talked with Dr. B again.  Guess I am set to go.  I am suppose to start my pre op diet on I guess Sat. or sun.  Depends on how you count the days.  ha ha I will still be out of town so will try to get off to a good start but might have to slip a little but plan to stick to it the rest of the time.  I am sure it really does make a difference if you follow their rules.  I hope your surgery goes well.  My pre op diet is similar to yours but different, too.  I think I understand it better since I talked with them today.

I'm have my surgery in Olathe (RNY) Dec 10th-I start my pre-op diet 11/26.  Dr Opie has me on Opti-Fast.  How will you be getting in your protein right after the surgery? Do you have a game plan??  I am wondering what some of the best options are because I really can't afford to lose any hair!! Debbie

I had some people tell me that carnation instant breakfast is good,  I also bought, from the advice of others the EAS powdered protein drink from Walmart.  I think that is what i will do until I am on whole foods.  I bought adkins drinks to drink pre op as I can have 2-3 of them per day.  I don't know what else.  Any ideas are sure welcome. I think I am going to buy a Magic bullet blender .  Have heard they are really nice and do a great job of mixing, and making mush out of food.

I am about 12 days pre-op (RNY) and so far, my surgeon Dr. Hitch**** has not mentioned pre-op diet unless I am above 400 lbs.  I was at 446 and am at 400 right now.  I had about 46 lbs to lose so I just cut out all carbs, eat only protein (meat, fish) and fresh steamed veggies and I dropped like a rock in 6 weeks.  Even though I am at my max surgical weight, I am going to keep on going until Dec 4.

good luck to you surgery.  I would suggest you call your Dr. and see if there is anything you should or shouldn't be eating.    I got a packet with lots of stuff pre and post do's and do not's.
