Well it's official.  WLS was cut from the recommendation list that was sent to the statehouse from the Kansas Health Policy Authority! on November 1st!!  They said that it will be debated in future years.  :(  Not sure what to do now or if there is anything that can be done.  Moving on with my life, WLS just isn't going to happen for me at this point in time.  Good luck everyone!  I am happy for each and every one of you who have the chance to make this happen for yourself!  If you have the opportunity, and it's what you want, do it!!!  If you want to contact the Kansas Health Policy Authority you can reach them at www.khpa.org

Chad, I am not surprised it got dropped. I think that the KHPA is more interested in coming up with some form of universal health plan. Somehow we need to convince the insurance carriers that it is in thier best interest to cover WLS. They have to think it will benefit them and that it is profitable. And it is. WLS has been shown to reverse type 2 diabetes. If the insurance companies don't see it as saving them 100's of thousands of dollars it will not get covered.  I hope you can find a path to WLS. Good luck and thanks for all the work you put into it.

Life is a journey, don't waste the trip.
