Where is the cheapest and most reliable place in the KC area for self-pay lapband hopefuls?
I have been doing some checking for a while and there seem to be plenty of reputable places and surgeons in the are, however, I find the prices outrageous. It is probably because I am from Europe and medical costs are much, much lower there!
Has anyone had the lap-band recently and paid for it themselves? Do you know where the cheapest place is?
The places don't like to give out that information unless we book an appointment!
Thanks!
I have been checking also, I have talked with the one in Overland Park and they say self pay is 17,000.
I hadn't heard about the one in Topeka. Are they cheaper???? Any information about it? I did find out that you can go to Overland Park and have surgery but then do all follow up in Wichita. That is better for me.
I had my lap band done on 6/5 and was a self pay patient at The KC Bariatric Center, it is also a Center of Excellence. They are located in Shawnee Mission. Dr. Hoehn is my surgeon and I've heard a lot of good stuff about his partner Dr. Hitch**** as well. My surgery cost me 16,250 total. This included my hospital stay, dr appt, surgeon, etc... It even covers fills up to 1 year.
I'm very pleased with Dr. Hoehn and his office. I had my surgery at the Heartland Spine and Specialty Hosiptal and I really liked it there.

Is Dr. Hoehn the same dr. as the first person that posted had. Her surgery was at Tall grass in Topeka. Does he go to different sites?
So how much have you lost since June surgery? How are you feeling and how long did it take for you to recover fully. I would like to miss as little work as possible. I am also wondering what you had to do before your surgery as far as eating etc.
Thanks and good luck to you.
I don't know if Dr. Hoehn was the same doctor. I'm pretty sure that he doesn't do surgeries at Tall Grass though. I know he does them at Shawnee Mission and at the HSSH. His office is in KC.
Since my June surgery I have lost 43 pounds. I am feeling great and the recovery was no time. I had my surgery on a Wednesday and was back at work on the following Monday. I also have a desk job though. If was FORCED to I could have been back to work that Friday, but it would have been very uncomfortable and probably not very smart.
As far as before surgery I had my appointments with the psych guy, (who is wonderful ) and I only had to go on a full liquid diet 2 or maybe 3 days before surgery. They do encourage you to give up soda and sugary foods ahead of time and that is a great idea. The headaches coming off sugar and caffine are not worth it.
If you have any more questions feel free to pm me and I will answer as much as I can. BTW, I would hands down do this again.
