WELCOME TO THE KANSAS STATE FAIR!
Hello all! Hope you all got a chance to come to Hutchinson for the fair! If you haven't been there yet, there is always Friday through Sunday! My hubby, a friend yesterday, and had a blast! We went to the ?? Diamond hypnotic show, followed by Matt Roloff, the dad on Little People, Big World. It was really good, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The weather has been better than normal for the fair, except for one day when it rained. Hope you all who come to the fair have a great time! Hugs to All, LaNeta
LaNeta,
I went to the Fair last weekend. We took two of my grandsons, they had a ball. I have always enjoyed going to the fair. But it is not quite the same these days. I think i miss the Pronto Pups, funnel cake, carmel apples, cotton candy, fried this and that.
They need to add a protein shake booth next year.
Thanks
Life is a journey, don't waste the trip.

Maybe I can bring it up to the fair board - ha! I always enjoy watching people the most, I think. We only got to see llamas this year, as I missed those gorgeous Percherons and Belgian Horses. I love those big guys! Hubby and I did have a slice of pizza that was so good. I left three fourths of the crust, and the rest was pretty much protein, but it was SO good. I came back on the straight and narrow though. Don't want to get too far away from the approved diet stuff! I figure once a year... Take care!

I was at the state fair on Wednesday. My husband took a giant pumpkin to the fair. It only weighted 84.6 lbs. I told him that was a start. Maybe next year his will be bigger! I also saw Matt Roloff. He was great. My hubby took a picture of me with Matt but he cut my head off! Enjoyed it so much I will be there on Sunday.
Have a GREAT Evening,

Glad you enjoyed the fair! I enjoyed Matt talking about how impressed he was by the giant pumpkins! The winner this year even had mention on Paul Harvey today. Now THAT was a huge pumpkin! I wanted so badly to try to grow giant pumpkins, but then injured my foot, and my crop went to pot two years ago. I am so in awe of those big 'punkins'! I read in the paper the winner said that he gave the winning pumpkin 100 gallons of water a DAY! Also, there was a break in the vine, and he used plumbers tape to tape it up and it worked! I would like to go back to the fair, but am in school all day Saturday and have church and activities Sunday, so will skip it! Glad you had a good time. If you get a chance, you should check out the Kansas Cosmosphere and the Underground Salt Museum, just down the road from our house that opened a few months ago. You go 650' down under the earth. I haven't worked up the nerve for the elevator ride in the dark yet though - ha! Come share our city!
Hugs, LaNeta
Having grown up in Kansas with my grandparents house only 2 blocks from the fair grounds I miss being there at this time of year. I now live in Tennessee. Nashville has the state fair for Tennessee but it is nothing like Hutchinson. No chicken houses or real livestock...just booths of games and junk and rides. Hoping you all have a beautiful fall.
Hi there! Yes, there is something about the Kansas State Fair that is different than other places. My aunt, who now lives in Montana, goes to the state fair there in Billings, where she lives, but she said she misses Kansas. Also, some friends from Fort Worth come up here to the fair every couple of years, as they said there is too much danger at their state fair. It is just a 'hometown' feel in a town that isn't too big, like Billings, Nashville, Ft Worth and Tulsa. It is just a good time! Take care! LaNeta
