Hi to everyone: This board doesn't seem to get a lot of hits compared to the  other boards but  since it is the Kansas board I thought  I would send out a question.  I am in the pre-op stages waiting for insurance approval to have Lap-Band surgery at Tallgrass with Dr. Hamilton.  Was just wondering if anyone else has had surgery with this doctor and what your thoughts were.   Thanks for any info.

I had my surgery at Tallgrass but Dr. Hamilton wasn't practicing there at that time (Dr. Steward did my WLS). Dr. H did a few surgeries on my father, he is a great surgeon and a funny guy to boot. He likes to sing to his patients!!! In all seriousness though, you will be in good hands!

Thanks for the information.  Dr. Hamilton does seem like a very warm person he doesn't seem like your typical surgeon very nice guy.

My surgeon was Dr. Steward also and Dr. Dunshee assisted. Hamilton did the 1st seminar I attended and I really thought he was a good guy. My friend had Hamilton for lap-band and she did fine. I think the Tallgrass group is excellent and committed to the long term success of their pateints. Amie

Thanks for letting me know Amie.  I havn't been able to find too many people that have had Dr. Hamilton but when I met with him he seemed to be a very nice guy not like a lot of doctors out there.  Now if I can just get the insurance company to get their heads on straight I might be getting somewhere.  I called them today and they told me they haven't recieved any paperwork from my doctor's office which was sent over two weeks ago.  My doctor's nurse assured me she did but she will send again.

Hello there! I had to travel to Columbia, MO from Hutchinson for surgery, but am happy with the results. (My insurance wouldn't cover any facility closer, it had to be a bariatrics for excellence center). Anyway, a close friend had surgery with Dr Hamilton last year, and was very pleased with her results! She had no problems, and lost 150#! Good luck! It seems like a long journey, but it is well worth it!  Hugs, LaNeta

Thanks for that information LaNeta and good luck on your journey.  You had to go quite a ways from Hutch to Columbia.  Hutch makes me think of Boogeys, I love their shakes.

Hmmm!! Bogey's! I haven't been there in a few years, but I know it is a popular spot! You should come see our new underground salt museum. It is just a half mile from our house, but we haven't been there yet, but some day soon! Have a great weekend!LaNeta

Hi Pack, I really think that this Tallgrass group has it all together. I had Dr. Steward but they all seem to do great work and you hear only good things about them. Dr. Hamilton has had the surgery himself so he is really able to relate to his clientel. Good luck and I hope your approval process is a smooth one. John
