Hi all

I have just moved to Mcpherson Ks and I am 4 months post op and wondering about surgeons in the area are any recomended I dont mind traveling and would love any feedback My name is Leah I have 3 children and look foward to getting to know some of you. I would also like to know of the nearest support groups and if you guys carpool or anything like that just curious.  Leah

Howdy Neighbor! I live in Hutch! As for surgeons in this area, I don't know. I had to have surgery in Columbia, MO due to insurance requirements. Anyway, a friend had surgery last year with a dr in the Tallgrass group in Topeka, but I know there are some surgeons in Wichita, so maybe the folks in Wichita can fill you in. As for support group, someone was trying to get one started in Wichita, but I have not heard. I also was told there is one here, but cannot find it yet! I would love to go! Leah, Welcome to Kansas. There are several support groups around the state. Solutions for Life has one in Wichita, and I think there is one in Topeka and Manhattan. I looks like there are others getting one started in Wichita as well. We have two surgeons in Wichita, Drs Dort and Lancaster. Both are with Wichita Surgicial Specialist.  Others on this site should be able to provide you with more information about others.  Again Welcome to the area and best wishes. Mike

Hi Leah,  I'm sorry you had to move to KS in the middle of the freaking Summer! I love our Springs and Falls, it just so dang hot right now! I live in Southeast Kansas, so that's not very near you at all. My surgeon is in Shawnee Mission which is up around Kansas City. I'm sure that you can find a good clinic closer to you though. If your interested in more info about my clinic PM me and I'll pass along the info. I think several people use the Tall Grass place in Topeka though. I had my bypass in Topeka with Dr. Steward. All of the surgeons at Tallgrass are excellent and committed to the success of their patients. It might be a drive - but the support group meetings are great too.
