I have been taking the phentermine for 2 months now....first visit (1 weekslater) i lost 3 pounds...2nd (4 wks later dealing with the floods and family staying with me)..i gained 4!!!! i have however lost 5 this month....i did my sleep study 2 wks ago. i don't have to get a cpap but i do have to get a mouth piece..i think i almost would have rather had a mask! i also have restless leg syndrome so they are putting me on requip. have started to have some pretty bad swelling in the ankles so now i'm on meds for that!!!  after my last visit the dr decided to put me on orlistat...$218 a month out of pocket..can't afford it. talked to the pharmacy and they said take double dose of alli....that only $100 a month and i still couldn't afford it. my dad sent me $250 and said that he wanted to pay for it and that should get me by for a couple of months. i am going to get it today. i hear it gives you bad poohs....great..i'll be running to the bathroom all the time!!!i feel like i'm turning into  a walking pharmacy and I'm only 35! think any of these issues are going to assist with my approval??? at this point i am strictly going thru my pcp....these are the steps he's telling me to take..at what point do we contact my insurance company to start the process of getting approval? he says we need to do at least 6 months of appts and meds and trying to lose to before even applying...i need some advice!!!!! i'm really thrilled to hear many of the good news stories...good for you!!!!!

Hello, I think that I would get information from programs that you think you want to use. I would contact them and find out what all is required. I would make sure that the information that you are getting from your PCP is correct and I would also see if there is anything else I could be doing at the same time. I would keep a journal of everything you are told and everything you do. I also would make sure that who ever I was going to use would accept my insurance and vice versa.  It is important that you are the lead person in getting this done an that you stay in control. If you give up the control to someone else, it will become very frustrating.  This is my opinion, I could be wrong. the best of luck to you. Mike
