Lost PM from someone about my Doc
Hi hollie, it was me (smilingone) from topeka. Wondering how long your surgery was, how long before you went home, can you feel the port, and lastly what was the fill like, did they numb the area first. I went to the session last night, but somebody was coughing through the entire two hours and couldnt get all the information. any information would be appreciated. thanks
amy
My actual surgery only lasted about 30 minutes. I was pretty nervous, but it went really smooth. I had the surgery done at the Heartland Spine and Specialty Hospital. I highly recommend going there if you can. It is a wonderful place.
Yes, I can feel my port, but the upper part of my stomach is alot thinner than the rest of my body. I have to press in to feel it though. Dr. Hoehn's P.A. (can't remember his name, but he is great!) told me that I will be able to feel it more and more as I lose weight.
It's funny that you asked about the fill. I had my first one on Monday and boy was I scared. I have this thing with needles and was kinda freaking out. My DH wasn't helping much either, he was really teasing me about it. Well, the nurses were all real sympathetic and tried to calm me down. Just let me tell you that I was scared for nothing. He accessed my port very easy and it didn't hurt at all. I had the option of having the area numbed but I figured why get stuck twice. The numbing stuff burns like heck anyway, so I'd rather just get it over with IMO.
Please feel free to PM me again if you want to. I'll be more than happy to help you with any questions that you have.
Hollie
