Here is my surgery story I wrote the day after I got home.
The surgery itself went just as planned. I even got in to the operating room early. Spent a little to much time in recovery so my family was worried. They had no need to be worried I was just laying there. They were having trouble getting me on to the floor because the nurses were in the middle of shift change and so getting my report to the right person took a while. Then just waiting for someone to get me from recovery to my room took awhile. So 3 hours later instead of 1 hour I was in my room. Come to find out I should of left recovery with my Pain pump and no I didn't have one and was hurting like hell. An hour later I had my pain pump. I was getting dircet doses of Morphine in my IV while waiting on the pain pump but it just wasn't cutting it.
Went into surgery just before 3pm and wasn't in my room tell 8pm. My family talked to the surgeon at 5:30 so it was a lot of hurry up and wait for them.
9pm I got my pain pump and was up and walking at 1am. I may have over done it here so now I am a little sorer then some. You dont have to walk 3 doors down just getting out of bed at this point is good. I pushed myself a little hard. I've learned not to push to hard. There is a happy medium.
Paseed all my leck test. Getting on that exray board to do one of the test was a *****.
I spent another day in the hospital and left yesturday at 3pm.
I am very sore not going to lie. I feel fine if I am just laying down in the recliner. I slept in the bed last night with pellow*****hed up behind me. Only woke up once through the night to pee.
Im having lost of gass and feel like I may end up pooping myself when letting it go. Just feels that way not really pooping myself.
I know everyone feels different some better then others.
I was able to shower myself last night and change my bandages. That took all I had. I have my drain hooked to a lanyerd around my neck. Seems to be working well.
I've had a sf jello, Isopure (clear in a bottle) and lots of water since being home. My multi and pain meds of course too.
I know I've asked myself what the hell have you done to yoru self. BUT I know it is all worth it.
TIME TO PEE!!
Thanks for posting on this side Erin.
How cool that you wrote your surgery story while it was really fresh in your head.
Tallgrass Prairie has a group in Topeka...can't remember what day it is.
I'll be going to Olathe's group regularly so if you want to come to my house in Lawrence and drive the rest of the way with me you'll be more than welcome.
See you tonight!
Robin
I live in Topeka and attend the meetings at Tallgrass. The monthly meeting on Tuesday night is all that I have attended. We just had one last night and they are a great way to connect with others on the same journey.
I'm not sure how familiar you are with Topeka, but I have lived here most of my life and would be happy to fill you in on T-town!
