Referring PCP

My current PCP will not refer me for WLS. I have battled obesity all of my life. This is a discussion that we have every year for the last 3 years. Is there anyone that has had WLS with Dr Early and his group, that would be willing to email privately at: [email protected], and give me some advice as to which PCP have successfully referred patients for WLS ? Is there any medical reason as to why he would say that? Does your inurance require that you actually have a referal? Most surgeons have a seminar that they hold. All you really need to do is go to one. My PCP did tell me that he thought this surgery was right for me, but he has never even actually communicated with my sergeon that I know of. The sergeon will have a way to work that out I'm sure. Some doctors have a rather bucolic view of weightloss. I've actually had an MD tell me that food doesn't just jump in my mouth. Regardless I would find a pcp that was more sympethetic of my issues.

My current PCP has 2 post-surgical WLS patients in her practice. Both from what I understand, are 10+ years post-surgical and are recieving Dialysis for kidney failure due to fat molecues being retained in the kidneys--hence the renal failure. This has to due with the amount of Duodenum that is by-passed during the WLS. I have not been to an info seminar in three years, and my current insurance requires a letter of recommendation from my PCP. Therefore my query into which PCP in the Wichita area have referred patients to WLS.
